UK 2nd Hand Hifi Search

A handy resource for anyone on the lookout for a hifi bargain. It's a Google Custom Search Engine designed to target UK 2nd hand hifi sites specifically.

Hairy Bastard

A CafePress T-shirt shop selling amusing mechandise aimed at the hairier among us...

The Million Dollar Dungeon

The Million Dollar Dungeon is my favourite copycat/ripoff/spinoff (my preferred term ;) ) of Alex Tew's brilliant marketing coup, the Million Dollar Homepage. It's cheaper, and anything goes...

True Majority Action

A primarily internet-based grassroots movement to change America for the better, by allowing ordinary Americans to join forces in an effort to sway politicians to take action. If you are as horrified as I am at the policies of the Bush Administration and the direction in which America is heading, you owe it to yourself to sign up with True Majority.

Oh, and have a look at this great little animation that shows just how much of the American taxpayer's money is going to the Pentagon vs. important things like education, healthcare, and the eradication of poverty. It's a bit scary but should give you even more incentive to get up off your ass and do something (starting by signing up for True Majority).

Pushing Zero

Pushing Zero is my friend Andrew's very cool band, up in Maine, where he plays bass. Check it out - there's a couple great MP3s for download in the 'Music' section.

Unblemished

This is the hangout created (mostly) by my friend and fellow ex-CSer, Bob Patrick. He and me and Amy-Anne and Antonia and Tom and Charles and Meghan and Elanor and Emma and Greg and all the others use it to communicate and share pics with ease.

nuttyxander.com

Home page of my ex-flatmate and friend Alex Ingram, complete with photo gallery (he's a bit of a photography fan) and blog.

BBC News

Probably the best source of news on the web. Basically free from political agendas too, which is more than can be said for just about every other source of news out there (online or otherwise)... I check it every morning and you should too - especially if you live in America.

ZeroGain Forum

A great forum for discussing all things audiophile. It can seem a bit intimidating to newbies and hifi virgins, as some of the regulars have rather extravagant systems and carry out some fairly lofty, esoteric discussions on a regular basis, but they're a tolerant lot and mostly very decent and helpful. If you're too intimidated, you may be better off trying the Hifi Choice Forum, which is much more mainstream, though not as nice IMO.

AV:Talk Forum

Another forum I frequent, er, frequently, this one caters to all things audio-visual. AV is a bit like hifi in some senses, and there's plenty of room for hifi discussions on AV:Talk, but it really is a different world to ZeroGain and the audiophile discussion boards, and much more easy-going generally. Not at all intimidating to newbies either - the AV Talk regulars are a genuinely good lot and very friendly. Check it out next time you want to buy a telly or a sound system.

IMDb

The Internet Movie Database. Probably the most complete source of film information on the net, complete with useful star ratings. Check out the Top 250 - a very comprehensive and surprisingly true list of some of the best movies ever made, according to IMDb users. Also worth sampling the Bottom 100 for entertainment's sake. RottenTomatoes is probably better for reviews, but for everything else, IMDb (pronounced "im-d'buh") is your man.

Penny Arcade

Tycho and Gabe of P-A concoct some of the funniest cartoons on the net. They're gamers through and through, so if PC/videogames aren't your thang you probably won't get P-A. But if you're a gamer too, you'll die laughing. (Beware the Archive - it will suck you in and never let you go!)
